#WhyAmIRunning… AXA Assistance USA participates in the Gibbons 5K to support one of its employees
Adriana & Christian
Christian Sebek is a fun loving, loud, mischievous, adventurous 2 year old who loves to dance, eat and play with his trucks and planes! It was heartbreaking to learn that Christian was suddenly diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on January 14th 2015. However, despite his diagnosis he remains courageous and still has his beautiful smile. The next three years will be a long and difficult road for Christian, his parents, Adriana and Nick, and his 8 year old brother Aidan.
When Christian was diagnosed earlier this year, many AXA coworkers came together to provide support. Several fundraisers were organized over a few months and the company decided to show extra support by participating in the Gibbons 5K race on June 18th. At this occasion, 40 employees put on their running shoes to run or walk as a group. This demonstration of love and support was uplifting for Adriana Sebek and her family & friends, also present at the race.
“Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence.” – Lin Yutang
