ABC 7 Gibbons 5K Run and 3K Walk
Thursday, June 21st, 2018
in Grant Park, Chicago
For the last 23 years, the ABC7 Gibbons 5K Run and 3K Walk has proven itself as a landmark event in the Chicagoland area and is a major fundraiser for the Leukemia Research Foundation.
This local Chicago 5k charity run and walk, is held each year on the third Thursday evening in June, more than 2,000 people gather along the city’s downtown lakefront to run, walk and raise funds in search of a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma and all blood cancers.
The event consists of a chip timed 5K Run and a 3K Walk. A fun filled party immediately follows the run/walk. Participants enjoy food, refreshments and live music, and have the opportunity to visit the many partner tents on-site. This creates a great atmosphere for the participants to interact. A great way to support those touched by a blood cancer while participating in a Chicago 5K race.
A special Heroes of Hope tent dedicated to honoring blood cancer patients and Survivors provides an opportunity for those touched by these diseases to gather.
An awards ceremony begins at 7:30 where the top three male and female runners will receive a commemorative medal. Medals will also be handed out to the top 3 male and female runners in each age category.
The event has proven #itsmorethanjustarace! Please join us as we run and walk to find a cure for all blood cancers. #togetheritispossible
